Govardhan Puja
गोवर्धन पूजाबलिप्रतिपदा
Also called: Annakut
Why it is kept
Krshn lifted Govardhan hill to shelter Vraja from Indra's storm, as the Bhagavata tells; a mountain of food is offered. Maharashtra keeps the day as Bali Pratipada, for the king Bali who gave all to Vamana.
