The frame

Seven days in one courtyard

In Book Zero, Parasharya — Vyasa in our own day — tells the Mahatmya in a temple courtyard to a boy named Anvesh and his parents. Book One opens in the same courtyard the following day, and more people have come. Each book is one day there.
